Rehome

Can you keep them? If not, here is a safe path.

Life changes. A new home, an illness, a loss. No judgement here. We want to help you keep your pet, and if you cannot, help you find them a safe new home.

The problem

No shame, no blame, and no cold kennels.

Loving owners give up pets for reasons they cannot control: vet bills, a landlord, an illness. A busy shelter is hard on the animal and hard on you.

Home to home instead:

Your pet stays with you while you search, so they skip the kennel. You choose and meet the new family yourself.

Before you decide

Could you keep them with some help?

Many owners give up a pet during a short rough patch. These are the kinds of help we want to point you to first.

Food and supplies

Free food and basics while money is tight.

Coming: find a pet food bank
Option 02

Cheaper vet care

Lower-cost treatment, vaccines and neutering through local charities.

Coming: find a clinic
Option 03

Help with behaviour

Talk to a kind, qualified trainer before you decide.

Option 04

Renting with a pet

Letters and advice if your landlord says no pets.

Coming: renting advice
How it would work

How home-to-home rehoming would work.

Your pet stays with you the whole time. No kennel, no pound.

01

Write an honest record

From home, you write down their habits, favourite toys, fears and food.

02

Checked enquiries

People who ask about your pet confirm who they are and answer a few questions first.

03

Meet in person

Meet at your home, in a park or at a shelter.

04

Hand over the record

Sign the handoff form. The microchip and vet records move to the new owner.

Sample

What goes with your pet

Every handoff would come with a full record. No scraps of paper, no missing vaccine dates.

Vet records

Health summary, neutering certificate, vaccines and any regular medicine.

Microchip details

The chip is moved to the new owner’s name. We plan to link with chip databases so this is quick.

Habits and comforts

Your notes on fears, favourite walks, food and how to help them settle.

Staying safe

Why free ad sites are risky.

“Free to a good home” ads can attract people who resell animals or worse. On Rehome, people would be checked, you would meet in person, and a vet check comes before any handoff.
